Live Fish Show

It turns out that not many people know what a gudgeon looks like. Well, it looks like this:

Would you eat a living breathing gudgeon? Especially to save the feelings of a friendly Walrus? Well, would you?

Walkies

You may have missed the live instagramming of my walk through Cuckfield woods earlier today. It was quite an adventure. Muddy trainers, overgrown paths. A pheasant! Slippery branches pretending to be bridges across shallow streams.

Most of the time the life of a freelancer is hard, hard graft but sometimes I get out of the house and mange to get into some trees. And then it’s worth it. Always.

Tools of the Trade

A Lamy Safari (medium) and a tin of Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. The Lamy is the best fountain pen I’ve ever used. It’s affordable, easy to find, has a great line and never clogs. The pencils cost more than the pen, but they’re worth it. Nice, soft blendable colours means you don’t need that many different hues. Be sure to have a sharpener specifically for colour pencils though, or they won’t last long. These Polychromos fellas are the nearest thing to my much loved and much missed Karisma pencils.

Oh, and some paper. Preferably cartridge, quite thin. Or a Leuchturm1917 notebook.

The Rumour of Bears

Day 3 of the ‘Acorn Island’ Twitter game. I was a little disappointed that the vote went against finding out more about Timothy 2 Cans life at sea, but I managed to sneak a nautical reference into today’s drawing.

If you’re not aware of what this is all about, ‘Acorn Island’ is an Inktober project where I post a drawing on Twitter every day of October. People can then vote on what happens next, and so influence the next day’s drawing. It’s a game! Below is today’s (Day 3) poll, maybe you’d like to join in:

Oh, and Inktober is an online festival of drawing, which anyone can get involved with. Simply draw something (preferably with ink, I’d say) and post it somewhere online (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc) with the hashtag #inktober2017

Acorn Island: Day Two

The people voted and so instead of chasing after the bear into a strange forest, they decided to talk to the startled toucan. Below’s drawing is of what he had to say. If you want to join in the game, here’s a link to today’s Twitter poll:

Acorn Island: Day One

Here we are at the start of our 31 day adventure. Something seems amiss on Acorn Island, and maybe you could find out what is going on. Simply take a look at today’s drawing and then head over to my Twitter stream to vote on what to do (or click in the embedded tweet below):

It’s going to be fun!

This is all part of my Inktober project for 2017. Hope you join in and enjoy.
